Pathway to the Personal: Writing for the College Essay

$475 five session course

This college essay course not only provides a step-by-step approach for developing the all-important personal statement into a polished, stand-out piece but also builds skills and confidence in the writing process itself...

...useful well beyond the arrival of that acceptance letter!

FYI: This course has limited enrollment, registration ends on 11/15.

About the course:

Every student has a meaningful story to tell but too often that story is, “I can’t.” Let’s revise that.

We'll begin with a virtual intro meeting to collaborate on exercises for self discovery and material generation, with opportunities for live Q&A.

Each session thereafter is self-paced with anytime access to lesson videos, worksheets, handouts, prompts, top tips and checklists for success, and more.

An opportunity for 1-on-1 feedback and essay review is available at the end of the course.

What we’ll cover:

  • Where to start and how to begin the outlining and drafting process

  • How to structure for the most impact

  • When to revise, revise, revise and how to make it all less painful

  • Strategies and tactics to help your essay STAND OUT

  • Why your story matters and how to keep building a writing/storytelling practice long after college

Who this is for:

This five session course is perfect for high school sophomores and juniors, and handy for seniors who are just a tad bit anxious about a looming regular decision deadline! 🙃

To the students working towards justice and equity, and those who are sharing (or thinking about how to share) personal stories that are vulnerable, powerful, and absolutely very difficult to write: I am here to call you in.

I am here to help YOU because your story matters

Just as every story and perspective is different, every student learns differently and at their own speed.

The majority of this course is self paced, with a variety of learning tools including videos, worksheets, and prompts.
